- New Coaches Notebook: Monica Erwin (Pope) did a
fabulous job
putting the book together. We will be updating the notebook. We will make more
copies this year. Please contact Kristina Nesbitt (Holy Innocents') if you know of a
new coach or team so enough copies can be made for the next meeting.
- State meet results: The results mailed out were incorrect.
We went over the corrections in the girls 100 Back and the Boys 100 Free.
- Qualifying Times and Standards for State Meet: Several proposals
were discussed about how to improve the current procedure for qualifying for the State
Meet. Al Otte (Glynn Academy) has made a formal proposal to the GHSA that regional
qualifying meets be held with swimmers and divers advancing by some combination of place
and performance. This proposal along with several others was not supported.
- Rules: Several coaches voiced their concerns about the
inconsistency of the enforcement of the rules especially at the State Meet. Pete
Higgins (Westminster) proposed that we change our forward start rule to be consistent with
FINA, USS, and the NCAA. This proposal was supported. A committee will be
formed to change the procedure for nominating the Coach-of-the-Year. A report will
be given at the September meeting on this subject.
- Communication: Many coaches want our meeting published by the
GHSA and flyers sent to athletic directors as well as swim coaches.

clinics for summer league teams. Auburn University coach David Marsh will be
instructing the swimmers along with Auburn swimmers. Call Doug at (770)943-7392.
